The Havraní skála/Rook Rock near the Village in the České Švýcarsko/Bohemian Switzerland National Pa
On June 22, 2006, a massive fire had broken out on the Havraní skála/Rook Rock in the České Švýcarsko/Bohemian Switzerland National Park. In total, 17.92 hectares of forests, consisting mostly of the Scots Pine (Pinus sylvestris) with rarely dispersed Sessile Oak (Quercus petraea) and European or Common Beach (Fagus sylvatica) were burnt as well as the White Eastern Pine (Pinus trobus) plantations located on northern and north-western slopes.

On Updating the Specially Protected Species List
Commissioned by the Ministry of the Environment of the Czech Republic, the Agency for Nature Conservation and Landscape Protection of the Czech Republic has proposed a new Specially Protected Species list for amending the Ministry of the Environment of the Czech Republic Decree No. 395/1992 Gazette which listed species, in the Czech Republic specially protected pursuant to Act No. 114/1992 Gazette on the Protection of Nature and the Landscape, as amended later.

Non-native Fish Species as Seen by the Nature Conservation Act
The article deals with intentional introductions of geographically non-native fish species into the wild in the Czech Republic. It aims at geographically non-native species as defined by Act No. 114/1992 Gazette on the Protection of Nature and the Landscape, as amended later, in relation to definition of non-indigenous fish pursuant to Act No. 99/2004 Gazette on Fish Farming, Performance of Fishing Right, Fishing Inspection and Protection of Marine Fishing Resources and on Chang in Some Acts (the Fisheries Act), as amended later.

Recovery of the Peregrine – A Successful Story of Nature Conservation or a Consequence of Spontaneou
In the Czech Republic, the Peregrine (Falco peregrinus) numbers have dramatically changed. After its populations had collapsed across whole Europe in the mid-20thcentury, the raptor species totally disappeared from what is now the Czech Republic. Nevertheless, since the late 1980s, the Peregrine has been recolonizing its former nest sites there.

The Broumovsko Protected Landscape Area Twenty Years Old
The Broumov region, an extremity of the Czech borders forced among the Orlické hory/Eagle, Mts., Krkonoše/Giant Mts. and the Polish Klodzko region, is one of the Protected Landscape Areas (PLA) in the Czech Republic. In 2011, the Broumovsko PLA has celebrating its 20thanniversary. It was declared on the territory of 430 km2 in 1991.

The Žďárské vrchy Hills after Forty Years
The Žďárské vrchy Hills Protected Landscape Area (PLA) located in the Districts of Žďár nad Sázavou, Havlíčkův Brod, Chrudim and Svitavy was declared on the territory of 709 km2in 1970. Its elevation ranges between 490 and 836.3 m a.s.l., the latter being Mt. Devět skal/Nine Rocks, the highest peak of the area. The PLAs administration managing nature and the landscape administration is based at Žďár nad Sázavou.

The Jeskyně pod Sněžníkem Caves Managed by the Cave Administration of the Czech Republic
Since 2001, the Cave Administration of the Czech Republic has been in charge of managing a speleologically and geologically unique site, the so-called Jeskyně pod Sněžníkem Caves. It is a system of pseudokarst hollows discovered by fluorite mining at the Jílové–Sněžník deposit near the town of Děčín (northern Bohemia).

The Constitutional Court of the Czech Republic Supported Measures Taken for Nature
The judgement of the Constitutional Court of the Czech Republic issued on July 8, 2010 on the proposal of invalidating Article 68, paragraphs 3 and 4 of Act No. 114/1992 Gazette on the Protection of Nature and the Landscape, as amended later, is commented by the author. In total, 25 Members of the Senate (the upper chamber of the Parliament of the Czech Republic) submitted the above proposal.
