Rovnokřídlí (kobylky a sarančata) jsou spolu s motýly nejnápadnějšími bezobratlými obyvateli českých luk. V této skupině hmyzu většina druhů obývá otevřené biotopy, nejčastěji právě nejrůznější typy luk, a jejich stridulace je zvláště v letních měsících všudypřítomná. Vedle běžně rozšířených a hojných druhů se u nás vyskytují také druhy vzácné a ohrožené. Jedním z nejpozoruhodnějších je kobylka zavalitá (Polysarcus denticauda).
