Nature Conservation and Landscape Protection and the Water Act
Watercourses, water bodies and wetlands significantly contribute to health of ecosystems which they are part of and provide wild plant and animals with their preferred habitats. The Water Act (Act No. 254/2001 Gazette on Waters, as amended later) officially declares water ecosystem conservation. Nevertheless, because the piece of legislation aims particularly at water management and flood and drought prevention, interests of water management and nature conservation can sometimes clash.

On Updating the Specially Protected Species List
Commissioned by the Ministry of the Environment of the Czech Republic, the Agency for Nature Conservation and Landscape Protection of the Czech Republic has proposed a new Specially Protected Species list for amending the Ministry of the Environment of the Czech Republic Decree No. 395/1992 Gazette which listed species, in the Czech Republic specially protected pursuant to Act No. 114/1992 Gazette on the Protection of Nature and the Landscape, as amended later.

Non-native Fish Species as Seen by the Nature Conservation Act
The article deals with intentional introductions of geographically non-native fish species into the wild in the Czech Republic. It aims at geographically non-native species as defined by Act No. 114/1992 Gazette on the Protection of Nature and the Landscape, as amended later, in relation to definition of non-indigenous fish pursuant to Act No. 99/2004 Gazette on Fish Farming, Performance of Fishing Right, Fishing Inspection and Protection of Marine Fishing Resources and on Chang in Some Acts (the Fisheries Act), as amended later.

The Constitutional Court of the Czech Republic Supported Measures Taken for Nature
The judgement of the Constitutional Court of the Czech Republic issued on July 8, 2010 on the proposal of invalidating Article 68, paragraphs 3 and 4 of Act No. 114/1992 Gazette on the Protection of Nature and the Landscape, as amended later, is commented by the author. In total, 25 Members of the Senate (the upper chamber of the Parliament of the Czech Republic) submitted the above proposal.
