Zajíček P.: The First Map of the Výpustek Cave Found-again

In 2011, the experts from the Department of Cave Management, Cave Administration of the Czech Republic found a place where a historically important document which had been considered lost or destroyed for more a century is archived.

The document is the very first map of the Výpustek cave system located in the Moravský kras/Moravian Karst, hand-drawn by the engineer Antonín Lola by order of the landowner, the princely house of Liechtenstein in 1807. The extremely valuable original showing and describing the cave as it was more than 200 years ago and displaying remarkable size of 175 ´ 196 cm is kept in the Liechtenstein Museum in Vienna. Both hard and digital copies of the document can be seen at the Cave Administration of the Czech Republic archives at Průhonice near Prague and in Blansko.
