The Prachovské skály Rocks (a geomorphological unit within the Jičín Hills) is a typical sandstone rock-pillar formation.
In 2006–2007, the Cave Administration of the Czech Republics staffs assessed and reviewed available information on caves located in the region. During surface speleological and biospeleological surveys, 35 new caves were discovered and documented there. As of June 30, 2007, 57 caves were registered in the Prachovské skály Rocks, reaching from 3 do 46 meters in length. The highest denivelation (the difference in level/depth between two parts of a cave, usually the highest and lowest known point) is 17 meters. In the southern part of the area, there are mostly broken caves, while in other parts fissure caves dominate.
