The Journal is published by the Nature Conservation Agency of the Czech Republic in cooperation with the Cave Administration of the Czech Republic, the Krkonoše Mts. National Park Administration, the Bohemian Forest Mts. National Park Administration, the Podyjí National Park Administration and the The Bohemian Switzerland National Park Administration. It has been published since 1946.

Czech Presidency in Nature Conservation

During the Czech Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the first half of 2009, the Czech Republic will have to deal with many compelling questions in nature conservation and landscape protection.

In that time, the agenda of the Working Party for International Environmental Issues (WPIEI) – Biodiversity shall include negotiations of international regime on access to genetic resources and the fair and equitable sharing of benefits arising out of their utilization (ABS). From January to June 2009, seal protection, namely a proposal for a regulation banning the trading of seal products with, into, and from the EU to ensure that products derived from seals killed and skinned in ways that cause pain, disteress and suffering are not found on the European market, and whale protection (the Czech Republic will co-ordinate the EU position at the International Whaling Commission meeting in June 2009.
