New Findings of the Ghost Orchid in the Mt.

On the Mt. Boubín Ridge (the Šumava/Bohemian Forest Mts.), the Ghost Orchid (Epipogium aphyllum) was re-dicovered after 60 years, namely in 2006. The orchid is among the rarest wild plant species in the Czech Republic and is also protected under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). In summer 2008, a new micro-site harbouring 23 individuals was found: in total, 49 flowering plants were documented at new and old sites. Therefore, the Mt. Boubín Ridge is the main area of the Ghost Orchid´s occurrence in the Czech Republic.
