Nature Conservation 3/2008 — 24. 6. 2008 — Research, Surveys and Data Management
Česká republika má povinnost jako členský stát EU podávat každých šest let zprávu o stavu evropsky významných fenoménů z hlediska ochrany, tedy o evropsky významných typech přírodních stanovišť z přílohy I a druzích z přílohy II, IV a V Směrnice o stanovištích (92/43/EHS).
The Agency for Nature Conservation and Landscape Protection of the Czech Republic pays special attention to the target wild plant and ani-mal distribution. Amphibians and reptiles are groups for which launching a new distribution mapping across the whole country has been proposed, aiming at improving our knowledge of the vertebrate species. The last national-wide mapping was carried out as a background for publishing the distribution atlas (amphibians – Moravec, 1994; reptiles – Mikátová et al., 2001). The recent occurrence of the “expected” species should be confirmed in each quarter of all grid cells in the grid mapping by visiting one or more sites according the observer's own choosing. The methods when the animals are not manipulated have been preferably used. In 2008, 195 mapping grid cells, which is approx. 30 % of the Czech Republic's whole territory have been included into the campaign. The more detailed information on the amphibian and reptile mapping in the Czech Republic is available at www.biomonitoring.cz.
