On January 1, 2014, the new Civil Code and other related acts will come into force in the Czech Republic.
At the same time, a lot of current statutory instruments will be dissolved, including the Act on Association of Citizens. Civil society organizations which will not be transformed into public benefit organizations/charitable trusts by the end of 2013 shall be considered as associations from the beginning of 2014. Act No. 114/1992 Gazette on Nature Conservation and Landscape Protection, as amended later, has not taken the changes into account. Thus the act has been stating, that citizens can participate in decision-making processes possibly influencing the nature conservation interests through civil society organizations. The authors suggest that right to information on ongoing administrative procedures/decisions and right to participation in the procedures/decisions should be carried out through associations and their affiliates.
