Ouhrabka V. & Mlejnek R.: The Southernmost Caves in the Czech Republic
The article describes two newly discovered non-karst caves in South Bohemia. Both are located in the Čertova stěna-Luč National Nature Reserve (NNR) near the town of Vyšší Brod. The NNR is characterized by stone debris slopes.
The caves are situated just on the slopes (a block sea). The smaller one on the right bank of the Vltava River under the Čertova stěna/Devils Wall reaches 20 m in length. The other, just on the left bank of the river in a block sea on Luč Hill slope reaches 50 m in length, the difference in level (depth) between two parts of a cave system, namely the highest and lowest known points (denivelation) being approx. 19 m. At the latter site speleological survey has not been finished yet.
