Pokorná L.: Two New Orders with a Similar Title: How They Would Support Conservation of the Sites of

Co přinesou ochraně českých evropsky významných lokalit?

autorka: Lucie Pokorná

The article aims at presenting a possible impact of the two new Government orders on conservation of the Sites of European Importance (pursuant to Act No. 114/1992 Gazette on the Protection of Nature and the Landscape, as amended later, the term for Site of Community Importance, SCI under the European Union’s Habitats Directive), namely Order of the Government of the Czech Republic No. 208/2012 Gazette on Declaration of the Sites of European Importance listed in the European Union List of SCIs which entered into force on July 4, 2012, and the Order of the Government of the Czech Republic on the National List of the Sites of European Importance: the latter is being debated by other sectors and other stakeholders.

In the introductory part of the article, the process of declaring the Sites of European Importance is summarized and ways which can be used for their conservation and management are also described there. The so-called basic protection of the Sites of European Importance introduced by the above amended Act is presented in details: its implementation in practice is possible just due to adopting both the Czech Republic’s Government Orders.
