zkušenosti s péčí o bývalý vojenský prostor
The Tankodrom/Tank Training Facility Nature Reserve is situated near the town of Rakovní (Central Bohemia). From the 1950s to the 1990s, the non-go area covering more than 30 hectares was used for military purposes, namely for training tank troops.
The specific military conditions support development of specific open habitats, inhabited with remarkable wildlife plant communities (those preferring grasslands, early succession stages and temporary water bodies) and species, particularly invertebrates, amphibians and birds. In addition, agrochemicals (pesticides, chemical fertilisers) have not been applied there. In 1999, the Tankodrom/Tank Training Facility Nature Reserve was established there. Co-operation with the Army of the Czech Republic, still using the adjacent military training area has resulted in favourable management measures, e.g. in establishing pools and water holes, at the site.
