The Importance of Tourism for Nature Conservation – A Challenge or a Threat?

Nature and its remarkable elements are one of the main tourism pillars. On the other hand, when fully respecting the certain rules, tourism can provide protected areas with benefits because protected areas are extremely attractive for tourism.

Although visitor infrastructure in protected areas posses to nature and the landscape some disturbances, it helps the public to meet as much natural values as possible and at the same time, it significantly contributes to controlling visitors’ movement, conserving rare natural phenomena. In addition, it is important to pay attention to nature-visitor relationship, which also is related to appropriate destination management within the particular area. Moreover, the opinion that this can be solved solely by the State Nature Conservancy authorities is rather unfounded. Various labels having been given to the individual areas have not necessarily the significance attributed to them by the public.
