Since 2001, the Cave Administration of the Czech Republic has been in charge of managing a speleologically and geologically unique site, the so-called Jeskyně pod Sněžníkem Caves. It is a system of pseudokarst hollows discovered by fluorite mining at the Jílové–Sněžník deposit near the town of Děčín (northern Bohemia).

Within the OPE, the ANCLP CR has applied for funds to be spent for the conservation measures, amounting 650 million CZK (26.3 million euros) and is going to apply for other projects, totalling 515 million CZK (20.9 million euros).

The article deals with semi-natural stream regulations in human sett­lement residential areas as well as with their importance in flood control. It focuses on the experience raised in the Czech Republic, in comparison to the measures taken in other European countries, particularly in the Federal Republic of Germany (Bavaria).

The Operational Programme “Environment” (OPE) for the period 2007–2013 is funded from the European Community’s budget and co-financed from national sources. It supports various building and non-building environmental measures. The OPE includes eight priority areas (so-called axes) aiming at individual components of the environment.

In the Czech Republic, at present there are 41 Bird Areas (pursuant to Act No. 114/1992 Gazette on the Protection of Nature and the Landscape, as amended later, the term for Special Protection Areas, SPAs under the Birds Directive), protecting 41 birds species listed in Annex I to the Birds Directive as well regularly occurring migratory species.

The Little Whirlpool Rams-horn Snail (Anisus vorticulus), which has been listed in the European Communitys Habitats Directive as a Species of Community Interest, is a very rare and critically endangered mollusc in the Czech Republic.

The Zbrašov Aragonite Caves at the village of Teplice nad Bečvou (Central Moravia) were discovered at the turn of the years 1912 and 1913 and since 1926, they have been accessible for the public as a show cave.

In the Velký and Malý Tisý Fishponds National Nature Reserve (Třeboň Basin Protected Landscape Area and Biosphere Reserve, South Bohemia), reed beds have been substantially declining since the 1950s.

V souladu s Optimalizací národních dotačních programů pro ochranu přírody a krajiny, která byla schválena v polovině roku 2008 poradou vedení Ministerstva životního prostředí (více v článku Budoucnost dotačních programů, Ochrana přírody č. 2/2009) byly v roce 2009 zrušeny dva národní dotační programy – Program péče o urbanizované prostředí a Program stabilizace lesa Jizerských horách a na Ještědu.
